It is sharper, smaller and easy to forward to an accountant. - Check the GST details before you send: your GSTIN, the invoice number and date, HSN codes, the tax split and the total. - Add one line of text with the amount, the due date and how to pay. - A GST invoice sent electronically is valid. The easier you make it for their accountant, the fewer calls you get asking for a "clear copy". ## Check these before you press send The main details a GST tax invoice must show: - Your business name, address and GSTIN - A unique invoice number and the invoice date - The customer's name and address, and their GSTIN if they are registered - For each item: description, HSN or SAC code, quantity and unit, rate and taxable value - The GST rate and amount, split as CGST + SGST or IGST - The total, and the place of supply (with the state name) for sales to another state - A signature, or "Authorised Signatory" for a computer-generated invoice Not sure which tax goes on the bill? Along with the PDF, they send: > Namaste Gupta ji, bill no. INV-2026-0042 for ₹23,600 is attached. Please pay by 15 October. UPI: [your UPI ID]. Thank you! Three details do the work: the **bill number** (so their accountant can match it), the **exact amount** and a **date**. Most payment delays come from a bill that is unclear about one of the three. The QR is shared separately; it is not printed on the invoice itself. ## Habits that get you paid faster - **Send the bill the same day** as the delivery, while the customer still remembers the goods. - **Send to the number that pays**, which is often the owner or the accountant, not the person who received the goods. - **Do not edit a bill after sending it.** If something was wrong, tell the customer and send the corrected one with a clear message, so two versions do not float around. - **Record the payment when it arrives**, with the mode and reference number. GST law does not require invoices to be on paper. A PDF with all the required details is a valid tax invoice. If your turnover is above ₹5 crore, your B2B invoices must also carry an IRN from the e-invoice portal; BillBabu does not generate e-invoices. ### Does my customer need BillBabu to open the bill?
